My Evening Skincare Routine!

People always compliment me about my skin, and even though my skin is fine, it is far from flawless. I have a serious case of hyperpigmentation around my chin area which always been a problem and made me feel a bit self-conscious. Now that I am getting older, the hyperpigmentation seems to be getting worse.

This means that I have to devote extra attention to my skin and since about a few weeks, I have been doing just that. Even though I have not used this routine for a very long time, I would still like to share it with you guys because I have noticed some results in this short period of time.

Hopefully it will work for you guys too.

I have combination skin, my t-zone is quite oily and the area around my t-zone is pretty dry so I use products that work for both situations.

My skincare routine is very easy and can be divided into 3 sections; evening, morning and weekend. Today we’re going to be talking about my evening routine.

In the evenings I usually have make up on so first I remove that.  I use Nivea micellair water, micellair water cleanses your skin deeply and thoroughly. In addition to the cleansing it removes your makeup, moisturizes and refreshes your skin.

After all makeup is removed, I was my face with African Black Soap. And this stuff is great, it just seems like an orgasm but then in Soap form. Often it is not recommended to wash your face with soap but this is a special case. African Black Soap contains no chemicals, preservatives, coloring or aromatic substances and is therefore very mild and suitable for every skin type. The soap has a positive effect on all kinds of skin problems such as acne, pimples, blackheads, skin rash, skin irritations, reducing wrinkles and pores.

While the black soap is still on my face, I use an electronic facial brush that I purchased for € 24,- on If you purchase a similar brush make sure it rotates in circles, the circular movements ensure that all dirt will wash right of your face.

I firmly believe that the brush, in combination with the black soap worked wonders and this has resulted in the reducing of my hyperpigmentation. After about 2 minutes washing my face with the electronic facial brush, I remove the soap with cold water, why cold water? This closes your pores right up!

Next up is to moisturize my skin. I love to use Coconut oil and Bio oil for this part. The black soap is very good to rid the skin of all kinds of dirt, but it is important that you then hydrate the skin well, otherwise you may end up with quite dry skin. I switch up my choice of moisture daily using Coconut oil and Bio oil.

Two important acids for the skin in coconut oil are lauric acid and capric acid. When these two acids come into contact with skin they are converted in monocaprine and monolaurin. This allows for protection of the skin unlike most soap products, which can be damaging for the skin.

Bio oil is a specialized skin care product that helps to reduce the appearance of scars and age spots. The product is also perfect for the aging and dehydrated skin.

Important to know is, that this is not magic. I would recommend to tryout the routine for at least 3 months consistently before you can actually tell if it really works for you or not. Next week we’re going to be talking about my morning and weekend routine, so stay tuned for that love bugs!
